Emmanuel has shared with you tonight an approach to identification with God’s identity or God consciousness. Tonight I would like to speak to you about joy. We have spoken about fear and pain previously in our last meetings with each other, an approach to pain, an approach to the sensation of pain in your bodies, how to treat that sensation, that awareness of pain or fear. A dislocation from your true self. We have spoken about recognition of pain being the key, as Emmanuel did tonight. The lesson being, as you recognize pain for what it is, that is the first step. How to change your focus from the pain is the next step. To find joy is tonight’s lesson.
How to find joy. [...] The opposite of pain or even the elimination of it, let us say, the transcendence of pain cannot destroy pain, for as long as you give it reality, you will hold its worth, it will remain pain. You cannot attack pain with more pain, or with hate, or with anger, and make it go away. But if your purpose is to dissolve it by changing your focus, changing your mental awareness - this you can do, and you will find that pain eliminates itself, not through your will, not through any effort on your part, but simply by changing the focus.
Many are accustomed to experiencing life in terms of pain. “Oh I had a pain about this or that. I didn’t like this or that. I don’t him, or don’t like her. They make me feel bad. I didn’t like that book. Don’t like that TV program. Don’t like that food. That medicine doesn’t agree with me. My husband made me angry today. My children are very irritating.” And on and on and on. [Laughter] It is amusing, you are right. It is very amusing. [I love] to hear you laugh, for it is in your laughter that is the quality of transmuting the pain and changing it into joy.
However, joy is not simply something you can will into your consciousness to replace the pain, to substitute for, to say “Oh, I can’t stand the pain, I’m going to be joyful instead. I will make myself become joyful. I will find something to make me feel joyful.” Rather the joy comes in recognition of the pain and the release of attachment. The desire to free yourself [from attachment], to heal yourself, to have that intention to deliver me. Not because you are angry at yourself and you can’t stand your pain, or you are mad that you have once again created pain, or that you are stuck in the corner with the pain. But that you have rather called upon joy to help you melt your pain, to help you dissolve it. [You can't just] forget, this forgetfulness [doesn't do it], deliberately forgetting something that’s painful only to have it turn up in exactly the same form sooner than you’d like. Rather, when you evoke joy, you find that it comes into you, creeps up on you like a fog, or a mist, or the morning sun, or the warmth as the day progresses. The joy heals the pain. You must allow [this on purpose]. You must say, “Joy, heal me. Joy, come into my heart and heal me. I’m tired of my pain. Will you please come into me.” And you feel it. And joy comes and says to explore, and searches out pieces of pain, thoughts of pain, feelings of pain, body sensations, and we say to Joy, “That feels good. Take some more. Take some more.” Joy can only take what we are willing to give up. You say, “That’s enough Joy, that’s enough, you got enough now. I can’t give you any more. Because if I do, I won’t know who I am.” And Joy says, “Fine, fine. I’ll come back another time when you call me. That's all right. I can only take so much.”
And so you get tired of your pain and you call Joy in, and Joy comes, this time perhaps more enthusiastic, and Joy begins to melt all over you, and you find yourself in pleasure and relaxation and fun and play. And you say, “Well, what about all the work? Wait, wait! Enough of this - wait, wait, stop!” Joy says to you, “But you can enjoy your work. You can play with your work.” And you say, “Only if I could get it done. Only if I could get it done will it be healed.” So you make a deal with joy. You give up a certain portion of your pain and Joy comes around, envelopes you, fills you up. You are a little bit more healed. What if you were to identify with the joy? What if you were to identify with the pleasure? What if that were to be your work in this life? The joy and the pleasure. What if your work turned into pleasure and you found a secret how to turn drudgery into pleasure or burden into pleasure or pain into pleasure? Well, I would say to you, [good for you! You got something, you are on the tail of God, you have grabbed God by the tail and you are holding on.
You say, “I feel God in my heart, that gives me pleasure.” Now there is also the factor or memory. Remembering that pleasure, making a mental note of it, choosing it, selecting it, registering with your perception the difference between pleasure and pain, recognizing how you have chosen pain and how you have not chosen pleasure. Those are choices that you can make on a moment to moment basis, you are smart and your eyes are open. You can watch yourself making those choices instantaneously. It only requires that you stay awake and alert and that you keep your mind to the ever present factor of change, the permanence of change. If you have consigned yourself over to certain decisions about your life - well, I have a bad hip, I have a bad hip and always therefore you have a bad hip except on days when you notice it’s not quite so bad, but tomorrow will be bad; or if you are allergic to ragweed and always you know you are allergic to ragweed, always, “I’m allergic to ragweed,” you say, except one day you notice you are in a field and you are fine. There’s no allergy and you say, “Hm, how strange, I’m allergic to ragweed.” [Laughter] The next day you wake up and you go back into the same field and, of course, you are allergic to ragweed and you are miserable because you remembered that you were miserable when you were in a field of ragweed. What if you said to yourself, “Sometimes I notice that I am allergic or sensitive to ragweed, but sometimes I’m not.” And if in your mind you were to choose not to be allergic to ragweed, isn’t it possible [to come out] of the allergy. Much as you could choose to substitute joy for pain allowing the joy to come in, inviting it to come in, value yourself to know and receive the joy, allowing it to flow into the small places of pain in your body, recognizing that your essence is that of joy.
That is what I would offer you today. Your conscious choices essentially create the warp in the wood of your experiences. If you would choose health then you must see where you have chosen pain instead and consciously and deliberately you say, “Now I will choose health instead.” And you allow the health choice to come and heal the pain. It is a simple physics formula. It is the law of flow or gravity. If you flow joy in, you will displace [the pain]. It’s a simple flow [phenomenon]. You can only hold so much information on a certain piece of experience. You are free to hold your association as you choose, but if you should choose that you can replace painful memories, then you are healed. Should you so choose, you could search out and replace every painful thought with joy. That would be an exercise, a tremendous effort. Memories. But it is possible [to do that], and I will tell you how.
Choose [to be] joyful, choose it. And I do not mean to make yourself silly with it or to delude yourself with it as an escape from your pain. But rather, choose to deluge yourself with that joy. Now, if we say that joy is of the same essence stuff as light, then you are also choosing to flood yourself with light to replace every point of darkness, mystery, death, pain, within your cellular mind and body with light. You are all intelligent beings. Perhaps we can have some [freedom to] choose joy, choose light, choose love, and therefore to manifest it into small pocket and corner of your being. To seek out places of pain within and to flood them with light, [with] consciousness. As you experience the pain releasing itself, you also experience joy.
You do not need to go see healers, you are your own healer. Oh yes it is a natural, oh yes there are some who are better at it than others, but you might find one who takes your groceries, who makes you laugh every time you go through the line because she in her wisdom is joyful as she is [taking your groceries]. Understand that feeling is something that you bring to you - not through those to [bring to] you. Something that you attract to meet your own intentions, your own manifestations. You create joy, you create the light consciousness that you bring with your own healing. It is not something that a magnificent healer performs upon you miraculously for your great benefit. It is rather something that you receive, that you allow. Even the greatest of all spiritual teachers only give you a memory of joy.
You see? That is Orion's [purpose]. I wish to teach you tools to use for transformation. That is the focus of our work together - tools for transformation. Tools for the transformation of the planet, [tools] for personal consciousness. For you are entering into an age where access to the purity of mind is increasing. Therefore you have a choice to saturate yourself with that purity of mind, or to hold tight to painful memories. I would advise you now to be aware of your memories, to identify them. Know yourself [in your pain], but in your knowledge of your pain, also to be your own healer, your own magician, and to perform the alchemical transformation of darkness into light. Why it occurs every day around you. Darkness turns into light dependably. You too can produce those same changes within yourself as the level of consciousness [rises].
Let us do an exercise together this evening, practicing the great art of self-healing. Identify for yourself one point of pain within your being. I don’t care what it is. Perhaps you have a small discomfort in your body. Perhaps you have a memory of some [unpleasantness]. Perhaps it was an argument with one of your children or your spouse, perhaps it is an untidy home because [no one helps you], whatever it is. I would like you just to bring in that one thought this time. Can we do that? Now I want you to feel your pain, whatever it is, feel it, acknowledge it, listen to it. It’s talking to you. You may not like what it is saying but listen to it. Hear it out. Maybe you know why your toe hurts or how your house got to be messy or why you had the argument with your spouse or why you were impatient or even unkind to [a loved one]. Now, with a full conscious focus on that pain, allow yourself to receive the healing light as if you were a doctor and you were going to give a shot of light. You know exactly where to put it because you know where it hurts. You know what you’re going to fix. So I ask you then, bring in the light, bring in joy, even if it is as a memory. Bring it in and apply it to that particular small piece of pain. Bring in the light and watch it change. Watch your healing. Perhaps it is a weakening or a [lessening] of the throbbing in your toe, or perhaps it is a [clearing up] of your home tidiness, or perhaps it is the piece of undone work finished, even as if it were ready for you on your desk in the morning. Perhaps it is the unkind word healed in the great sad love. Visualize the healing out of the light source, bringing in the light, drenching in the light. You are your own healer here, you are performing the miracle. You have that power. Deliberately focus on your own healer [on your pain].
Now, let us discuss this. I want to hear of your results. Please tell me, how did it go?
Someone: It was kind of funny when you said OK, identify, you said, OK now feel it. It’s like oh, where is it? I had to look around to find it. It was interesting. I thought it was always there waiting. I had to go find it.
Orion: Did you find it?
Someone: I debated [laughter] whether to go find it our not, and then I found it.
Orion: And how did it feel?
Someone: Well, two things happened first. You said bring in the light, bring in the joy, and the cat scratched at the door, so I let the cat in with a new understanding of why we love this cat so much. And then I went into the pain and sensation in my hip and it definitely shifted - it definitely appreciated getting my attention, being heard, being received and changed.
Orion: Did you require a lot of effort?
Someone: No.
Orion: Was it easy?
Someone: Yes.
Orion: When it became effort did you stop? What is the key? You can apply the treatment of the light, the healing, the joyful [energy], and at the point where you can no longer receive, let it go. You can pick it up again, a moment later even, and reapply the same treatment, building up layer upon layer upon layer of healing on the same pain.
Do not underestimate your power here. Your application of healing to yourself is the greatest power you have. It is no different from the healing of your planet in the ways that your planet has poisoned itself and brought about its pain and misery with the conscious application of healing, for the purposes of healing in small doses…
